Tukisiniarvik School Values

  1. Respect
  2. Cooperation/Connection
  3. Kindness

Along with these 3 values our interventions should:

  • Promote Inuit culture and language
  • Promote inter-generational learning
  • Be based on Inuit values and teachings

The expected behaviours should be taught throughout the school and repeatedly told to students on a regular basis. They should not only be taught when a student is in crisis or not meeting the expectations. Create positive associations with following the expected behaviours by teaching them when students are calm and giving positive verbal reinforcement whenever students meet these expectations.

Expectations

  • Working in class
  • Listening to teacher and school staff
  • Respecting others (Elders, teachers, peers)
  • Keeping hands to ourselves
  • Respecting school and others’ property
  • Speaking in a calm respectful way (indoor voice)

Cooperation / Connection

  • Work together and learn from each other
  • Using a hall pass when in the hallways
  • Being quiet in the hallway
  • Staying in class during class time
