2.0 Behaviour technician/SSP/Administration Managed Behaviours: Definitions for Major Behaviour Report

Teachers play an important role in keeping their students safe and in the reintegration of students back into the classroom.

BehaviourDefinition
Physical ViolenceStudent engages in actions involving serious physical contact where injury may occur (e.g. fighting, punching, hitting with an object, kicking, hair pulling, scratching, etc.)
Aggression or ThreateningStudent makes threats of violence or harm towards another student or staff member. Threats can be made through words or gestures.
Defiance Towards StaffStudent constantly refuses to follow directions, talks back, speaks rudely, or makes rude faces or gestures towards any staff member.
BullyingStudent repeatedly delivers disrespectful messages ∗ (through words or gestures) to another person, including threats, intimidation, obscene gestures, pictures, photos, or written notes, and excluding others. This includes disrespectful messages made online.
Sexual TouchingStudent engages in inappropriate sexual touching
VandalismStudent damages school property or the property of another student or staff member (including teacher houses).
Drugs / AlcoholStudent is under the influence of or possession of illegal drugs or alcohol.
TheftStudent who stole property.
WeaponStudent is in possession of guns, knives, bullets (or other ammunition) or other objects with the intention of hurting someone.
Chronic Refusal to go to classA student who refuses to go to class after asked by the teacher on multiple occasions.
Chronic Skipping/AbsenteeismStudent who is absent for 10 days or more in a row without justification.

∗ Disrespectful messages include negative comments based on race, religion, gender, age, national origin, ethnicity, disabilities or other personal matters.
