2.1 Protocol for Administration Managed Behaviour
- Evaluate safety of situation (Teacher/staff members present)
- If student poses immediate danger do not approach them and remove the other students from the classroom/area
- Call office for assistance
- Student escorted by behavior tech. (staff member or principal) to principal’s office.
- Teacher completes Major Behaviour report form Section 2.2 and sends to office with behaviour tech or brings to office as soon as completed.
- The principal and/or Vice Principal will meet with the student.
- Remind student of school values and why their actions do not meet those values
- Administration contacts parents/guardians to inform them of the situation
- The administration will choose action(s) to be taken and record consequences on Homeroom Behaviour Report form. ∗
- Actions for major violations are detailed in Section 2.3 below.
- The administration (along with homeroom teacher) will determine if follow up is needed with a student counselor and/or SSP or another staff member (ie. Teacher, principal, vice-principal).
- Actions to be taken are determined by the student’s circumstances, mitigating factors, previous interventions and their effectiveness. Actions will also take into consideration the overall safety of the school, staff and students.
- Before returning to class the student must meet with the principal or vice principal. The teacher must be given the Homeroom Behavior Report form and will be aware of the actions taken.
- Administration, teacher(s) and other involved staff will follow through with consequences and follow up with Student counselor/SSP if needed.
- A copy of the Major Behaviour report form (Section 2.2) and Homeroom Behaviour Report form (section 2.3) will be provided to the Compassionate team for review.
